Our article this week was published by JAMA Network Open in their inaugural issue (May 2018). Since then, “Effect of Usual Medical Care Plus Chiropractic Care vs Usual Medical Care Alone on Pain and Disability Among US Service Members With Low Back Pain: A Comparative Effectiveness Clinical Trial” by Goertz et al has been viewed online nearly 84,000 times. This pragmatic clinical trial of 750 participants found that adding chiropractic care to usual medical care resulted in better low back pain outcomes in terms of pain intensity, physical function and patient satisfaction than usual medical care alone for enlisted military personnel.

This study is important because it is the largest such study to be conducted in the United States and focused on chiropractic care as it is delivered in real world settings, which has important policy implications.
